Super-Size your Super Bowl!

February 5, 2012

Sitting around watching a great football game is super fun, but it is easy to lose track of the number hours sitting & watching T.V. & the number of calories you are consuming while watching, chatting, and commenting on those commercials.

Here are some quick tips to help you keep on track with those New Year’s Resolutions, & to make sure you don’t spend 8 hours on the couch today:

1) Plan ahead: If you are attending a Super Bowl party, plan your meals and snacks ahead of time. Bring a veggie or fruit platter to ensure you are eating something other than chips and salsa, and always, always, ALWAYS serve yourself an appropriate serving of the food and then WALK AWAY from the buffet table. This will help you gauge portion sizes, prevent you from mindlessly overeating, and help you keep track of how much you are eating.

2) Get your own football game going: encourage fellow football fans to toss the football around with you during commercial breaks, or before or after the game.

3) Take your own half-time and go for a walk in the sunshine.

4) Listen to your bod:– when you are full, stop eating! You are not carbo-loading for your own big game day, just watching one!

5) Most importantly, have fun and laugh with your friends & family! Laughing definitely burns calories, and all that fun social time will distract you from those tempting double-fudge chocolate brownies.

Happy Super Bowl XLVI!
