A Grateful Heart

January 4, 2011

Now that the holiday season is wrapped up and put away for another year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this past month. The generosity and love that was demonstrated throughout our little clinic with our project of gathering donations for Teen Feed was astounding.  Donations of warm clothes and blankets poured in from all around, in the spirit of giving to those who have less and certainly need more.  We took a moment to take a final count, and here is what we got:
  • 51 pairs of socks
  • 37 pairs of new underwear (men and women)
  • 28 pairs of new gloves
  • 4 fleece blankets
  • 3 big warm coats
  • 2 big, huge bags filled with many long sleeved shirts and warm snow pants
  • 1 sleeping bag
  • And a partridge in a pear tree (just kidding!)
A heartfelt Thank You to all of you who donated and perhaps next year we can do even more.  It is the kindness that we demonstrate on a daily basis to each other that will create a space for healing within ourselves.  It’s a good thing to remember throughout the year.  I, for one, am going to try.

If you didn’t get a chance to donate last year, and would still like to contribute to Teen Feed, they would readily accept your gift anytime.  You may bring things in (including a gift of money) to give to Beth to take to them when she volunteers, or you can give to them directly at www.teenfeed.org, just click on Donate Now.
